Who we are
Shane Computer Consulting Limited (“we”, “us”) is registered in England and Wales, company number 05838850. We are the controller of the personal data described on this page.
Our only published way to contact us is Daniel Shane on LinkedIn. We do not publish an email address, postal address or phone number.
This website
The public website, www.shane-consulting.com, only gives information about the company. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics, has no forms and loads nothing from other websites.
Cloudflare hosts the website. To serve the pages and protect the site, Cloudflare processes standard request data, such as your IP address and your browser details.
Our private services
We run private tools for invited users only, such as our operations console. They are not open to the public.
Sign-in is through Cloudflare Access, with Google sign-in. We receive your name and email address from Google. We use them only to decide whether you may enter and to record sign-ins in access logs.
Google user data
Where an invited user asks one of these tools to prepare an email, the tool creates a draft in that user’s own Gmail mailbox. This uses the Gmail compose permission, which the company’s Google Workspace administrator has granted.
- The tool does not read the mailbox.
- The tool never sends email. The user reviews the draft and sends it themselves.
- We do not sell Google user data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.
Shane Computer Consulting’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who else handles the data
We use these service providers to process this data on our behalf: Google (Workspace and Google Cloud), Cloudflare, MongoDB Atlas (the database of our operations console, which records who asked for an action) and Grafana Cloud (our servers’ logs). Data may be processed in the UK, the EU and the US, under their standard safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it to run and secure the services. An invited user’s access can be removed on request.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it or delete it, and object to how we use it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
To ask us about any of these, message us on LinkedIn.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the new version on this page, with a new date at the top.
